There's something about the flavor of red velvet that drives people absolutely crazy. So you're gonna get that familiar flavor of sweet cinnamon roll with a bright red hint of chocolate.
Ingredients You Need
Dough:
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
2 TBSP. cocoa powder
1/4 OZ. active dry yeast
1 TSP. salt
6 TBSP. butter
1.5 cups water
1 TBSP. red food coloring
1 egg
Filling:
1/2 cup sugar
2 TSP. cinnamon
2 TBSP. cocoa powder
1/2 cup butter
Frosting:
4 OZ. cream cheese
4 TBSP. butter
2 cups powered sugar
1 TSP. vanilla extract
pinch of salt
Step One
Before we get into that creamy goodness, let's start by making the dough. So we're gonna start by combining our two cups of flour with sugar, cocoa powder, dry yeast and salt and a scant mixer that's fitted with the dough. Mix all of this until combined.
Next migrator butter and water until it's warm but not completely melted. Now combine your butter water and your food coloring and add that to our flour mixture. Then add one egg. Add an additional cup of flour and continue mixing until the dough formed into a ball.
Step Two
So now we're going to add a some flour to our cutting board to make sure that the dough doesn't stick at all. Since our dough is nice and smooth, we're just going to cover with a towel, let it rest for about 10 minutes. And we can make our cinnamon mix by combining sugar, cinnamon and cocoa powder and mix together.
Make our roles using rolling pans and roll the dough into 10 by 16 inch rectangle. Once your dough is the right size, spread your butter all over it and sprinkle with a cinnamon mixture. Then start at the long end of the rectangle and begin to roll the dough tightly pinching to seal. Next, we'll cut the dough roll into one inch sections and here's a little trick. Use unflavored dental floss to really make clean.
Step Three
Now we'll just grease our baking dish. Place our rolls in a bowl, cover them with a towel and just wait them to rise for another 45 to 60 minutes or until the dough has doubled in size. Preheated your oven to 360 degrees and bake them for 23 to 28 minutes or until the tops are golden.
While the dough are baking, we can make our cream cheese frosting. Combine our cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla salt and then mix until it's nice and smooth.
And that’s all for cinnamon rolls. So once you take them out of the oven let them cool for about 20 minutes and then you could dig in. Our red velvet cinnamon rolls are finally done. Look at the stretch and the structure listen. You could also add extra icing on top or your nice frosting on top of the rolls. If you don't want that much you can just cut that recipe in half. Now it's time to give it a try. Now you can enjoy this dense texture with great chocolate flavor melt in your mouth. I want to say when these were in the oven, your house will smell like cinnamon roll heaven. You will love all the flavors. The secret to these light and fluffy cinnamon rolls is the addition of that cream halfway through baking. I hope you enjoyed this recipeThis was made with love, and you can make this for someone special!
